The border of the emblem with the "square shoulder", the font of the letters, they appear VERY REAL to me....Nice score!
Where did you find them? Kent |

Looks real to me too. It seems all of the old authentic, untouched VC I've seen were chromed. These look to be chromed too, right?
Does anyone know if there were any bare alumimum ones sold by Motion wiht the emblems? If so, what was the timeline they fell in? |

I'm not saying this is fact, it's just what I have been told. CP Products and Ansen were the brand names used...yes...no?
Also the old ones have the baffle plate riveted and not screwed in. The inlay behind the emblem looks to have the "rough" finish. Looks right.

Those covers are a bit newer as the oldest original valve covers would have the Motion emblems that were larger and cut down slightly to fit the inset in the cover. The later covers used a slightly smaller emblem that did not need to be trimmed. CP and Ansen covers were used in addition to the ones with "CHEVROLET 739" cast inside.

Ansen made the originally. Motion and hundreds of other places sold them in from some time in 1969 through the 1970's. CP later- like 1997 had Ansen do a few more runs (500 qty min) and simply private labled them. The newer ones were made with different tooling from the originals, but it is hard to tell them apart from the outside.
The chrome Motion ones seem to have been less common and unique. |
