It says the VIN is still there though. If there is a Protect-O-Plate or other L-78 docs, that price is very cheap for that car. One of the best looking cars Chevrolet ever made and throw in factory L-78 status....WOW!

Let me add this: with the way people go nuts over 70-71 High Impact color Mopar Hemi Convertible E-bodies, this L-78 Pace Car Camaro is probably the closest Chevrolet equivalent to those cars and we all know that they sell in the millions now. This Camaro is a bargain.

Is there any paperwork or proof that it is a factory L78?

MD 396---The car was in my booth at the show and was only for sale if someone asked, it did not have a for sale sign on it, the ZL1 69 next to it did. I stated in my first post that the block had been decked and that the Vin # and dates are good and correct. The car has been stored since the mid 80's But I think "questionable" is a lot to say for someone not knowing anything about the car or it's previous owners or past. But thanks for your positive comments!

Thanks guys for the comments. I have spoken with the original owner who bought it from Hawkeye Chevrolet which was changing owners to Maples chevrolet when he bought it. He confirmed it and is going to get back with me about anything he still has on the car and said he for sure has pics and possibly paperwork from 69 and 70. I am in the process of contacting the second owner to see if she has anything on it. The 3rd owner (who I purchased it from) is in my town and I still speak with him. He bought the car in the 80's and parked it.I have also spoken with James Maples who owned Maples Chevrolet and sold the car to the first and second owner and he is looking for any info on the car in his archives. You never know, hopefully more info on the car will come.
Thanks again Roy

The odd thing about real solid lifter 396 pacers without papers or engine pad stamp is that you never know if they were L89s!!Mine had Z28 front spring tags which always made me think it may have been L89, This carhas the vin on the filter, mine had the original M22,so both could have been l89s,even though they only said 2 were made. Miss my old car |
