Wow. It sounds like you found out its repairable and also what a fair price was even though you werent even sure if you should buy it 4 hours ago. When you sell it or decide to use it you may want to send the site a small donation for a quick education you wouldnt have gotten anywhere else.

i dont think i'll sell it as of right now just got back home and i'm beat and my computer is slow at the shop i'd love to make a donation and much thanks to eveyone for there input , now i just need to figure out what and where it came from , it has mickey thompson stamped on the bottom side where the lip of the oil pan bolts to the block ????

I had one that had Mickey thompson stamped like that about 10 years ago or so. It had aj foyt also on the block, i think they were gifts from one to the other back in the day . thats my guess..

It would help if you could post some pictures of the areas needing repairs. Where in CA are you? I know a guy here that is pretty good. He fixes aluminum intakes for me all the time and fixed a ZL1 for me in the past.

There used to be a machine shop that did high quality aluminum block repairs on Washington Blvd. in Whittier off the 605 He had a bunch of rare blocks he was just sitting on for years. Trying to remember the name of the place, but definitely remember the $8KUS to resleeve one cylinder (plus the repair) they did on one of Vic Edebrock prototype aluminum 427's about 10 years ago.
