I had the same goo on my repro heater hoses that were sitting out on the counter. It has nothing to do with any fluid running through them. It seems to be some type of byproduct of the production process...sort of like the outgassing you get from plastic interior panels that makes a new car smell like a new car. Only in this case it's a gross slime that only lacquer thinner or brake cleaner can remove.

There's no fluid in my smog hose
It's my own fault for trying to spiff the old hoser with vinylex! I didn't have this problem b4 I swiped the hose, and the other smog hose is fine - I could kick myself, but.... that would only increase the pain ![]()

I used to notice my hoses & tires would sweat on certain high humidity days during storage throughout the Fall & Winter,so I soon put a few inches of moisture barrier down on the cement floor directly underneath the entire car.I even put a 11"X 24" wood plank under each tire, and as of yet have not seen anything sweat yet.

[/ QUOTE ] How do you tighten a hose clamp on a piece of hose sitting on your workbench that starts sweating? If I put some clamps on either end and tighten them, then my sweating problem will go away? (Sounds kinda kinky to me! ) |

I have a '68 Chevelle with the remote power steering resevoir mounted on the fender. The hose is factory GM, and when the weather was cool/cold it would "weep" through the rubber. Recently moved into our new home which has the radiant floor heat in the garage, and the problem went away.
