BCD [/ QUOTE ] I have been in Pennsylvania for the last 3 weeks so I haven't had a chance to tear the other engine completely apart yet. This engine was in my car when I bought it. Here is a picture of the # 6 cylinder. I know the fact that it was a 454 block didn't have anything to do with the problem and I could have gotten another 454 block for a few hundred dollars. I just wanted a real 427 engine. I'm not sure about the crank but it doesn't matter to me. James

I believe 6223 is the 396 crank, the 7115 is the original 427 crank with larger balance weights.

I understand the 7115 is cross-drilled and tuftrided. Both are forged, and both are spec'd for either 396 or 427 (I guess there is not that much difference in piston weight)
