Default Re: When was the Yellow light MPX stereo introduced?

It is my understanding that the Yellow lights replaced the blue lights in late production, corresponding with the "tradtitonal" 70 model year. So 69 Camaros built after July, 69 should be yellow light. Of course, they would use up the blue lights in inventory, first, but I'll bet there are some late cars with blue lights. "for every general rule, there's an exception!"

They are for sale at the "I'd rather have the plague than buy a car from them" 200 words or less to describe dealer.

If anyone was into Shelbys you would get a kick from their 1967 GT 500 experimental convertible which has the rare self retracting Rollbar covered in the even more rare impact absorbing styrofoam!

Steve

There are two 1970 Chevelle 4:10 posi rears.
CKK, and CRW.They are both equal. One is not a HD gear over the other.

In 1969 there are two codes for a Chevelle 4:10 posi.
KK, and the KQ which is a HD COPO 4:10 gear. I believe the KQ coded gear has stronger reinforcements internally.

I can't believe Volo has non authentic parts on it's LS-6's???

L78, According to this website http://WWW.Chevelles.com/radiotech/database.html The date is in the model number, but it is only the year. For example if the model # is 91BFM2 this means it is a 9=1969, 1=chevrolet, B=B body or full size car, FM= AM/FM stereo pushbutton with hidden MPX, 2=Second design run. My radio has an aditional sticker with a date of 5/14/9 that the website has no information on. Thank for the help guys.

Jerehiah,
I will pass the date info on. I will confirm if there is a date code. Also were the month / day / year separated by the forward slash in your indentified date? Let me know.

Have you seen situations where the build sheet shows CKK and the rear is coded CRW or the other way around? Also, I thought that these codes were for dealer installed gears?

Thanks

The main transistor in the back has a date code. Can't remember if it is visible on that model.

L78, No the date is not seperated by the forwad slash. I am assuming it is a date because of it fitting the build date of the car perfectly. Maybe that 9 means 79, Its a long shot but it could be possible that the radio was repaired on 5/14/ of 79? The sticker does not say Rebuilt it just has what apears to be a date. The car was assembled on the first week of june. Thanks for the help.
