Interested in this as I need a tank for my 72 Chevelle........

Quick search shows most of the performance parts guys (Summit, Jegs, etc.) sell the Spectra tanks. Any advantage to buy from a certain vendor as long as it is not the painted steel?

TIA

Summit may not have a better price anymore on some parts, but they may still offer free shipping. I think Jeg's and Speedway do too, at a price point.
I would never order anything like this from amazon, as there is no packing in anything I get anymore. Just the product or it's box inside another box 4 times too big and just gets thrown around in there during handling.

The packaging on all the tanks leaves a lot to be desired....but then again, that's what you get for relatively low ship costs. From what I've seen there is typically a thin layer of the white foam sheet material and then a single wall large box. The Spectra tank I recently bought (and returned) had an additional smaller box loosely taped on over the otherwise protruding filler neck.

As I mentioned before....I wouldn't necessarily trust the sellers' description on the finish.....at least for Spectra Premium branded tanks.

The Taiwan-made tanks from Auto City Classics do appear to be the original style ternes steel material/finish. But, as I mentioned earlier, a Buick buddy of mine that ordered one a month or so ago said the underside (side you see when installed) looked like it had been dragged across a floor. Seller refused to do anything about it and said something like "the tank is functional and that's what a replacement tank is for" (or something to that effect). Also, the Auto City Classics Taiwan tank (and likely others) has rounded corners on it...originals were/are squared off corners. A minor thing unless you are really concerned about all the details.

HBC indicates he has an NOS tank. Spendy and no actual pic to see the condition. It could be all scratched up from shelf, floor storage too.

Jegs list 3 different tanks. 2 from OER; stainless steel and zinc coated and a Holley Sniper stock tank which is galvanized.

Interestingly, I have one of the nicest NOS tanks you ever saw but it's not for sale.

If you have a LOS built '68 Camaro, that plant painted the tanks black when installed so the finish is not that important if you are going to paint over it.

That stock Holley tank says galvanized, but I just noticed in description it says that its silver powder coated. Can it be both?
