Default 1968 Camaro BW rear end

Hi gang,

What is an original stamp "BW" 4.56 posi rear end housing worth? This is an unrestored unit.

Original application I assume is for a Z or L78? Can you guys confirm? Is it rare or desirable? Photos to follow...

Thanks,
Dan

I think it codes out as April 25 Gear Plant 1st shift. I have always wondered what car mine came out of as well.

Thanks Mark!

What else besides an L78 or Z28 would have been optioned with a 4.56 diff in 1968?

Technically couldn't you have ordered the 4.56 rear gear with anything that would have received a 12 bolt rear end? It was a regular RPO. I think there are a few documented COPO cars with the 4.56 rear end.

I'll bet the Chevy books shown in this thread could answer that question...perhaps the seller or buyer could scan/copy all of the pages as a reference tool for all of us???

**note the 68 book regarding the M22 tranny...only with L78...note the reference in the Corvette section about certain gears only being available with high lift camshaft motors...

The book says to see "Power Team Chart" for axle ratios options. I'm not finding that in the books. It does have some for the 69 Corvette listed.

These are from the 69 model year of Camaro and the last picture of the Corvette with Axle ratios.
Look at the L-88 option for Corvette! Nice option but allot of $$ back then.
