Thanks Bruce! Reserve on my LS6 is $90K. All original drivetrain, paint, trunk, and most of interior. National record holder. She runs like a top and pulls like a freight train!
I really like this quote from David Bunn from a post he made over at chevelles.com last year: “Non racers don't understand the preparation and attention to detail that is required to move a two ton Chevelle, on real street tires, to low 12 second ETs. What you and fellow pure stock racers are accomplishing is truly amazing! By 1970 we were already jaded, veteran, performance junkies having seen everything from 389 tri-powers,455 HOs,427 side oilers,428 SCJs,426 wedges, six paks, and hemis to L-79 fuelies, L-89 headed 396s,L-88s and ZL1 427s. BUT, when the the LS6 engine was introduced we knew the GENERAL had come up with something special. Special because it was a streetable high horsepower driver. The 11 to 1 compression wasn't a problem because gas stations, on every corner, had 93+ octane fuel for .30/gallon. Standard 3.31 gearing and the then 60 mph speed limit only cranked the engine up to 2500. Road trips were a blast and punctuated with full throttle lapses in judgment. One thing you will never forget, your first time... hearing the whine of a rock crusher in low gear on a quiet summer night!” Some of the docs: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
