With respect to the true atrocities and suffering of the Nazi era, their automobiles and anything transportation related is always interesting!
About 25 years ago I recall reading how some vehicles used by Nazi officials were identified by comparing pictures that showed the doors open and matching the unique woodgrain trim w/ that of existing cars. The coolest Nazi related automobiles is the late 30's Auto Union racers, incredible drivers and machines some of which raced bearing Swastikas also great stories of their successes and ultimate fate. Here's a try at a few pics below, note the American Flag flying with the Swastika in the poster image of Berd Rosemayer winning the 1937 New York race. ----A friend of mine, Chuck Kelly, from the Fox Lake area used to own Eva Brauns personal Mercedes 540. It could run on gas, diesel, or just about anything else that would ignite. It was all white and really had beautiful lines. He bought it from a guy named Fran Roxas who couldnt quite figure out exactly what he had. Chuck used to call it his retirement plan!........Bill S
