It’s the job number. One letter and three numbers. Located on the engine side of where the passenger’s feet should go. Below the heater box. You will also find the same job number on the back tube. I've posted a few reference pictures for you.

That is very typical of all Corvettes. Heck, we just finished working on an '82 coupe, 37k original miles that had its job on the firewall too. Nice find, I remember talking to you about the car Ed.

This is my 427/425 HP Original paint Corvette. I'm still waiting to hear about the Black 66 L79 Corvette. And you're still first on the list when I do. As I told you, it's a pretty awkward situation aand can't be pushed. Ed
