3965923 Outside Mirror

I bought a 3965923 mirror at a swap meet today with a date code of 9-DMI-1.
I can't find it on my 72 P&A guide I have on CD. Anyone know the application ? Am I right that the date code is Sept 1971 ?

You're right about the date decode and DMI stands for the manufacturer,Donnelly Mirror.The number your relaying is actually cast into the inside base,but Chevrolet recognized the entire assembly as #3965921.
It should have a convexed pivot cone like the one below,(Before 1970 they were concaved).
It was used as the Lefthanded standard door mirror and also the optional Accessory Righthanded door mirror too.
With your date it could be considered a later 1970-71 service application,as well as a 1972 Assembly line part used on:
*1970 Passenger series
*1970-71 Novas
*1970 Nomad
*1970-72 Chevelles,but NOT used on the Chevelle based Station Wagons or Elcamino either.

Yes, that's it.Thanks for the info.
I was pretty excited, I had the date code backwards and thought it was Jan. '69 and a Camaro mirror.But when I got it home I saw it was wrong for my Camaro.Here is a shot.

I didn't make it to the Ocean City Show, this was a small flea market put on by the AACA at the Howard County Fairgrounds.

It was OK, raining all AM so not much outside.Not too many cars, but some good parts.I bought the mirror and some stickers was about it.Found a 302 air cleaner sticker that was NOS and not a reproduction, guy said he bought it 10 years ago ,so it was worth the trip.
