I want to rewrap my engine compartment wiring harness to freshen it up for looks. The original wrap covering does not have any sticky adhesive on it and was just taped @ the beginning and @ selected joints or tied into place. Do most folks just use regular PVC type electric tape or is there a good source for wrapping tape that I can do it like GM did back in 1970? Thanks for any help or suggestions!

------Jeff,,,Any of the big Corvette houses will have rolls of the correct tape for you. Long Island Corvette comes to mind, or maybe Paragon here in Mi., but they all should have it. Maybe some of the bigger muscle-car suppliers have it as well, but I have always bought it from the Corvette guys.......Bill S

They originally never used adhesive tape.Sounds like yours is still authentic. It's only a few mils thick and designed to stretch and absorb over itself.
DON'T use PVC tape,as it is too thick and unreliable. It also stands out like a sore thumb to the trained eye. You can buy harness wrapping tape from many suppliers today, but chances are they all got it from Lectric Limited here in Bedford Park,Il. Click on the rotating "Click Here" and scroll down to "Repair Components",then down to "Harness Tape",Part #R58276S.It originally came in 3 width sizes and you can still obtain anyone of them today for roughly $12.00. 1" is the most commonly used on GM vehicles. |

Thanks again for the help folks, I checked that "LL" website out and there's alot of great stuff on there like the wrapping tapes, battery cables, etc. that will come in handy during our resto. Appreciate the tips!
