Default Question on ZL-1 block on ebay

Hi just noticed the seller is commenting on the fact that the winters snowflake makes this engine a protoype.

Have physically only examined one other block, and thought they all had this.

Do they all have it ???

The ZL1 prototype will not have a snowflake and has a "0-" casting number ...mine is 0-326711 . I spoke with the BIG Kahuna himself Wayne Guinn to clarify this matter . Thanks , Richard

I think what the seller is saying is that that particular design of the snowflake was used for prototype blocks only and this block has a GM casting number not an "0" casting numbers so that is what makes it a 1 of 1. However, that point may be a little to subtle to be worth a major increase in value as I suspect the seller hopes.

Plus, compared to the finish on the 052 production blocks as well as the new 053 blocks that thing looks like........... rough to say the least.

Any ideas on what the reserve might be?

Yes, they are a bit different, not as raised much like the snowflake on an intake.

I'd like to know the significance of this Winters logo on
the raised hexagon as well. I too had heard that this logo
identified a prototype part from the Winters Foundary.

Anyone know for sure? Has this logo style ever been found
on a production winters part? I have a set of '077 heads
and the logo is more similar to this style that the more
standard Winters logo found on '163 intakes, '842 heads,
etc..

Did you end up buying the engine you asked about a week ago? The numbers are the same.

Anders,

Can you describe what your friends Yenko block is? I thought
Yenko blocks didn't have the snowflake because of licensing
issues.
