Default Vintage Camaro Certification @ Camaro Nationals

Vintage Camaro Certification is a judging program who's sole purpose is to recognize, provide status and promote un-restored (survivor) Camaros. We believe it is the only program that focuses on and documents survivor Camaros. Certifications are held annually at the Camaro Nationals @ Carlisle sponsored by American Camaro Association and held in conjunction with the All GM Nationals. We understand not every original car is 100% untouched, and we offer four levels of certification, based on the originality of the Camaro. This is our eighth year at the Camaro Nationals. This is list of a few cars we have certified at previous shows: 1970 Dick Harrell 454 Conversion (Steve Sandlin), 19K mile 69 Yenko(Don Stowers), 14K mile 69 RS/SS L78(Jeff Boone), 9k mile 70.5 RS/Z28(Ben Arena),12Kmile RS/SS L48(Rick George), 22k mile 70.5 Z28 (Jack Seymore). This program has limited spaces, so register early. The car doesn't necessarily need to rare, just original. If your Camaro is over 30 years old and think your car qualifies, or want to know more about our program email me at [email protected] and I will email you our information packet and application or call(631) 514-9765. It is truly amazing the jewels of information that can be learned from these benchmark cars. Participants receive an 8 page detailed report documenting your car, plaque, signed certificate and shirt. If you are into Camaros this is the show, June 22,23 & 24.

They also inspected my 14,000 mile unrestored/original RS COPO Camaro. Thanks to Steve Shauger and his associates that volunteer to crawl around under/over an old Camaro to render their expert opinion as to the born-with/factory originality of these old cars. VCC has inspected and scored two cars for me at Carlisle over the last 3-4 years and I can attest that it's a cool written report and scoring sheet form that becomes a permanent part of the documentation of the car. In this day of clones/fakes, it's comforting to have these guys inspect your car and assure it's authenticity and originality to the best of their expert opinion.

When you take a car like Jack's to be judged do the judges let you know why the car received deductions so you can correct them if you choose?

To answer your question, yes a detailed listing of the deductions are presented to the owner. Points are awarded for both originality and how well it (area or component)has been preserved. If incorrect replacement parts or reproduction parts are used during normal maintenance, zero points are awarded for those items. The owner can replace the incorrect item and return the following year with corrected item for partial points. Partial points are awarded since the corrected item is not original to the car.

Steve
Just out of curiosity, how much time is needed to judge a vintage Camaro that meets these specific requirements?

With four judges, we average about 3 1/2 hrs per car. Less of course if only certain areas qualify. The venue at Carlisle allow us to place the car on a lift, for a full examination.
