Default This one is for you Charley from Carlisle '06

For anyone who ever wanted know the do's and don’ts of how to treat a unique piece of American history, here are some tips taken from Charley Lillards example.

1. Acquire one of the most valuable and historically significant Camaros of all time.

2. Take it to the GM Nationals at Carlisle to share it with the public.

3. Take it outside of the show building and do some donuts with it on the lawn for fun.

All kidding aside, it was a pleasure meeting you in person and I greatly appreciate you allowing me to take the small mountain of pictures of the car that I did.

Charlie was also kind enough to raffle off the opportunity to drive the car at the show for charity. Another big and I am sure a very memorable moment for the winner.

Below is a picture of the winner sitting in the car and one of some of the dirt Charley decided to take home with him from Carlisle via #92, which he took some good natured ribbing for. For those who do not already know this is the actual Indy Pace Car that paced the Indy 500 in 1967.

Thanks again Charley,

Mike

Hey?

If that picture was taken in the "Y" building, were are all
the rest of the cars? When I was in there it was room for
toes and elbows only.

Seriously, those cars were a little too tightly packed.
I thought Benny's COPO was going to get hit sooner or
later.

Some guy tripped over the chain railing that was being used
to keep people away from the cars. I hope the chain didn't
hit anyones car.

Lastly, they should post a sign requesting that all strollers,
carts, etc. be left outside from where the cars are. If
my car was there, I would have been a basket case..

I took the picture at the end of the day today after many people had started to clear out. Only four or five cars left in the building then.

Speaking of Charley's cars, nice shot of the "fighter" 55 Chevy on Speedvision today.

It was truly an amazing weekend. I believe there were over 500 camaro alone, no to mention all the pontiacs, olds and buicks. I bet if the weather forecast had been better another 100 plus cars would have attended. From survivor cars (a little plug) to concept cars. The new camaro looks awesome in person IMHO. The quality of camaros in one venue is unparalled. Had a great time seeing old friends and also meeting new ones. GM brought a host of unique cars and were gracious enough to let us enthusiasts up close and personal. The ACA put on a great event. Well Charley was up to is old tricks...let see, the 67 pace car was introduced to donuts on the grass, he made at least ten individuals day by inviting them to drive it and raised money for a local charity . The Y building was tight, but no mishaps occurred. The restorations were over the top, my choice was a leman blue one. Lots of laughs, smiles and information shared. Already looking forward to next year.

Steve!

It was nice to meet you in person after all the years of
just correspondense. I had a great time. I got lots of images of those "unique" D/90 stripes on your L/34. I'd
like to post them sometime to show others just how correct
- correct can be.
