curious how that 1967 REAL gt-40 street model only brought $300k at barrett jackson? i really couldn't believe it compared to what some other cars brought. and then comparing what they actually were to each other. ie. 69 z for 220k+ and aar cuda for 227k. and then super low mile orig super nice cond gt-40 compared to those cars RESTORED. besides the out glassing of the gt-40 to the other two as far as what it is and production #s . when are people going to realise that super nice orig SHOULD be worth more than restrored no matter HOW nice the restoration.

I thought the one at Barrett was a Mark V ? Isn't that a continuation car ? I think Prototype has one and we call it a GT20. The Z28 was not a restored car.

The Barrett car was indeed a Safir Mk V. It was done in a Mk I body style, they also made Mk II versions of the Safir Mk V cars. They are NOT originals, however they were licensed under JW Automotive and had continuation VINs. Alot of the original parts were used on these cars
This thread has me thinking that I now have a GT30, follow me: Real GT40 = GT40 Mark V GT40 in Mk I configuration = GT20 Mark V GT40 in Mk II configuration = GT30 or maybe the Mk V / Mk I = GT15 Are ya confused yet ![]() |
