Be careful,
Many of the "SS"'s are actually faked out 402's (which are nice as well). A true SS will have the boxed rear control arms and the load leveler system (or at least, what may be left of it, hoses etc). Also the SS's were only made in 70 and 71, in 72 they did have a 454 option, but it was a "custom", and could also come in a 350 version.
Try www.firstgenerationmontecarlo.com, really a cool bunch of guys and have forgot more than I know about fir gen Monte's!

All in all, cool cars

I had one back in high school, (had a 70 and a 71), loved the car, went like a raped ape, i got it in a trade for a honda 750 "hondamatic", auto tranny motorcycle. Then i in turn traded it for a ex bracket racer 69 Dart, fast car but missed my monte.

Love Monte Carlo SS454's...a true combination of power and luxury...all wrapped up in a truly sexy package.Great drivers car.

The 1970 model will be the one to watch skyrocket in the short-term,a very rare car indeed.
