Didn't find an older post on this 72 Vette anywhere. Anybody know anything about this Vette? Possible BM? Would love to know what the casting number on the orignal block is.
Larry, your thoughts? http://www.dragers.com/vehicle.php?stocknumber=DGC4999

Looks like just another vette that has a couple of parts that may/maynot have come from Motion?????
Wheel wells like those were sold by chev for their L-88 SCCA race car out of the powerbook as was the hood. That is a L-88 not a Motion style with the 67 scoop on a BB hood. Probably it is a Ecklers hood and wheelwells. Also has 73 side fenders so that is not motion either. The only thing I can see that is close to Motion is the gas cap. The paint is easy to copy. Nice clean car though! If Joel didn't have the car's vin then they are just blowing smoke to try to make it worth more and catch a fool. No proof it was sold by Baldwin Chev. It sure looks like a correct LT-1 motor so it may be a SB original car. JMO. Pantera

Two things indicate a possible original LT1 Corvette. The tach redline is at 6,500. In 1972, the LT1 was the only engine with this redline. The rear yokes have big block style caps instead of U bolts, this was part of the LT1 option and the only small block Corvette to have a big block rear end. No number on the engine, but it would be interesting to see the code on the differential.
I think it's a pretty car. |

Of course, I just noticed "L" in the ID number and this pretty much clinches the LT1 idea. I'm a bit slow today.

Shame it doesn't have a tank sticker to put to rest the Baldwin question. Gary the local brush would have been the bodyshop it was done in. Perhaps one of you locals could get Gary to see if he remembers doing one like it back then.

I don't think Joel said no, I think that he said that the records for 72 were not very good and he couldn't positively say yes or no.
