Default Yenko Chevelle Tach

I am a new member to the registry, and I must say this is a very impressive site. I have a couple of questions about the Stewart Warner tachs that were used on the 69 Yenko Chevelles. What is the proper mounting position for the tach? I have seen cars that have them mounted over the steering column, and then I have seen them mounted towards the right of the dash panel. Any ideas?? Also, I have another SW Tach that I believe is a 970, but it has a 10K face rather than an 8K. Does anyone know what car this tach was applied on. Thanks to anyone with any comments.

Brian

Both of my sYc Chevelles have the SW tach mounted on the dash bezel so they sit directly centered over the stg column. I know of one other car I am sure is untampered with and it too is mounted this way. Also the '69 vintage road test in one of the magazines (SSDI,I think) shows it center mounted.

You could get a SW 970 in 6-8 or 10 grand face. They made a custom greenline face as well as a std black face tach. They were all made during this time period and were "just" another aftermarket tach........

Here's a couple variations of the face designs Steve mentioned. Yenko used all of these variations depending on timeframe/availability.
