As some of you know, I have never been able to verify that my 69 Nova was purchased new at Charlie Collins Chevrolet in Bayonne NJ. When I bought the car last summer the seller handed me a copy of an invoice showing the car to be a L-78 purchased new at CCC in April of 1969. That and $3.00 will buy me a cup of coffee. However, I have been unable to prove that any of the info. on the invoice is false. I'm not trying to verify the authenticity of the car because the seller was very up front about the non-matching drivetrain. However, he did claim it was originally a BB/SS car. I would like to verify that. To get to my point, I am considering taking out a classified ad in the local Bayonne newspaper and offering some kind of reward for pictures, ads, receipts, etc.. to verify CCC actually existed. I have been unable to do this through NJ DMV and the Bayonne Dept.of Commerce. Do you guys have any thoughts on this? Marc

How about checking the old newpapers on microfilm at the Bayonne library for ads for the dealership ?

Better still, try the library collection of R.L. Polk city directories. They are almost like the old Yellow Pages phone books, but with more information.

Both good ideas guys. I was hoping to get out of this without having to take a trip to Bayonne but I may have to. The phone # listed on the invoice is "Federal 9-5353". I'm too young to remember phone numbers like that. Marc

shor,
Don't want to butt in here, but as long as you have that phone book in front of you, would you mind looking up the Chevy dealers in Bloomfield, NJ? I think my '62 was delivered there. Thanks.......no rush. Verne |

Shor, Absolutely! Let me know what I can give you for your troubles as well. My email is [email protected]. This is the first ray of sunshine I've had in a while. How do you get yellow pages from the '60s? That paper lasts 40 years? I'm suprised the dealer zone website isn't all inclusive. After all, these are car dealerships not mom and pop stores. I felt better when Dworin Chevrolet in E.Hartford Ct wasn't listed there. My mom and dad bought all there cars there when I was a kid so I knew it existed but that website didn't have them. Thanks ever so much shor. Marc

Marc don't PEOPLE have to enter the dealerships into the dealer data base?
