Default NHL Lockout - Are we watching players retire now?

Gotta wonder what's going to happen now with both the owners and players union reaching another stalemate. I am thinking that this is headed for an impasse where it will go well into 2005 before any resolve is achieved. If that does happen, you can bet there will be a new NHL that emerges. One where teams will call players to camp and assessments will then be made as to the players level of play, fitness, and what the team is going to offer them to play.

You can also bet that many of the older marquee players will fade into retirement before then where we will no longer see some of them play. This could include the likes of people like Hull, Roenick, McInnis, Messier, and Dave Andreychuk who helped upset my Calgary flames last season. Roenick said last night that if this drags out, it may have been the last time you have seen him play and that could very well include a lot of others in his age bracket. What are your opinions on the season and who do you think will fall if the season is cancelled, or an impasse is reached on both sides?

There looks to be alot of big dudes with bent noses saying " welcome to walmart" in the near future.
The owners own, the players don't. If your office staff doesn't show up to work no more, you hire new ones. The owners can always get other players, which will lower salaries and ticket prices. Just my .02.

They could call it the High Stick or the Break-Away. I wonder if hooking will result in a two-minute penalty?
