Default Original 69 Radio Delete?

I've had several of these over the years, and I have never seen one that was chromed on the backside... Ad says its an original take-off part... anyone ever see one that looked like this on the back?

radio delete

I've never seen one completely chromed. Maybe an attempt to restore by having it chromed so front of plate would have chrome then painting the black areas. I've heard of some Mustang stuff being restored that way. Sorta related... I've also heard that the repops are made of a flexible plastic whereas if you try to flex an original it will break.

There are several variations of repro radio delete plates out, from very poor to very convincing... the originals are indeed on the brittle side, but they will actually warp if left out in the sun, so they arent as brittle as you may think... basically they are made from the exact same plastic as the trim panel above the glove box on a deluxe interior car. The chrome trim on all the one's i've ever had was just applied to the raised portion, just like the dash trim. The backsides on mine have always just been plain black plastic, with the part #s raised.
