Okay, I just got an 65-72 Chevrolet parts book 1974 printing. In group 7.503 it lists leaf springs and what color stripe is used to identify them. Well my book has no listing for part number 3925817 which is listed in the 67 Camaro assembly manual. Does anyone have an parts book with that part number listed and what color stripe do they list for indentifing it? Thanks for any help. Sincerely Brian

You have to be careful about parts books that are not dated the same year as the car you are working on. Especiallty with springs. As stock ran out they substituted others that were close. The best bet would be the 67 parts manual. I have not seen a color stripe listed for 3925817. It is listed as fitting: 68 Camaro (Spt. Cpe.) w/spec. perf. susp. (except 350,396) (max. load 1,370 lbs.) I have only seen stipes listed in the parts manual on some of the 67 replacement springs. Not to say there was not a stripe, just need to find a different source to identify the color. Greg

The 3925817 spring is a single leaf spring used by all V8 '67 Camaros with F41 suspension and is standard with the Z28 model. It used the BY spring tag but when it did not have the tag, the ID was a patch of purple paint on the front spring eye. Hope this helps.

Thanks Jon, thats what I was looking for. Jon one other question my springs are gray in color and I've seen other original mono leafs gray colored (like corvette's) also I've seen the part number white stenciled on mono's with made in Canada in white. Just wanted to know if you have seen any of this. Thanks sincerely Brian

Gray is the correct color for the monoleaf rear springs. I think it was a phosphate sort of coating, not paint. I have seen stenciled numbers on service replacement parts but never on an original car. If anyone has observed different, feel free to chime in.
