"Engine has been decked, stamp your own codes" as said in auction. What proof is there that this was a camaro copo engine? Could this be a corvette block with a cleaned pad? Roger

That sounds more like a everyday 425 hp 427 to me. I would think it would have more L-88 or ZL-1 parts on it but it doesn't. The date codes are about as close as you could come to a "COPO" and the intake is a 425 hp with too early of a date is it not?

sounds like a CE motor or one that has been decked so that it would have the "Correct broach marks" ????

Broach marks are the marks left on the block surface after it is machined. Back in the 60's it was done with a machine that left straight lines going from front to back. Machine shops usually surface a block and leave circular marks instead. Here is a pic to see the orig type marks, Hope I explained it. People faking cars quite often surface the block and then restamp it to make it #'s matching so it is important to examine the broach marks to make sure you are not getting a fake.
