Default 67 camaro cowl tag????

Has anyone seen a 67 norwood built camaro with a small hole punched through the cowl tag in the option group 5 area of the tag. It looks like a factory punch hole throgh the cowl tag. Anyone know what this is or seen this on other cars? Thanks,Roger

They exist on tags installed during different periods of time during the 67 model year. There are a few different time periods where these holes show up on all of the tags installed on Camaros. Don't think they mean anything. Perhaps there was someting stuck on the die when the blank tags were stamped before being sent to Fisher. Maybe there were multiple tag suppliers and one of them had a screwed up die. Who knows.

Roger & Mark,
I've done quite a lot of research on Fisher Body trim tags, although on passenger cars through '64. I don't know exactly what the hole in this tag looks like, but I've seen many of them, and they usually have a specific shape, as from an intentional punch using a tool made for it. I've made no correlation between tags with punches or without, and no correlation to a particular body style or option code. My "theory" on it now, is that they represent random inspector punches. Every line practice as some inspection (the quality control team), so I believe random tags had to be inspected to make sure the kid on the punching machine did it right (and the inspector had to leave his mark) before the tag was rivited to the cowl.
Just my theory after looking at 100s of them and finding no other reasonable deduction.
Verne.

I'd think that was as good an explaination as any if they appeared randomly, but they don't. They are literally on every trim tag attached to 67 Camaros, for weeks at a time when they appear.

phil, yeah that is what it looks like. I had a guy email me saying pontiacs had that hole if they had shoulder belts? But on camaro, there is a code for that option. Roger
