The best way to tell if it is a real SS is by the original engine, not a restamp. It obviously has the wrong color paint and top. The ad also states it has the wrong transmission.

It's a nice car with a ton of options(most of which are probably added). The car is too early for the cowl hood and the JL8 brakes so they were added. I would bet the Endura bumper, fold down rear seat were added as well. It's such a loaded up car that I would want to see some really good original documents to prove all the options are original(again, the hood and brakes aren't).

I am more concerned about whether or not this car can have the numbers matching big block motor, as the ad states, but not have an X code on the cowl. Wouldn't an X22 or X66 code be there?

I hate when they do this.

[ QUOTE ] This car was truly restored by a Camaro Connoisseur. [/ QUOTE ] Then it's the wrong color exterior, top and interior and topped off with an SS396 grille emblem. But it is indeed a very nice car. Too bad there is no documentation. I myself would like to see it in it's original colors. What's the problem with green man!

I believe the early October build date preceeds the use of "X" Codes on the trim tag.

If anybody wants a 69 Camaro convertible and is not concerned with originality I have a nice convert plain Camaro body that I will build to order with the customer choosing model, color, interior, engine, trans, rear, and all other options. Everything will be new or rebuilt and will sell with a warranty. Can also do this for any other Chevrolet musclecar. Currently have a 70 454 Chevelle that is completely dissasembled ready to paint and build that I can do the same build to order on.
