Is anyone out there familiar with this car, and, its legitimacy? Can it be possible that there are two COPO spoiler 70 1/2s in Ohio, one a real L78 no less?

Nice looking car in the pics.Just curious about numbering and stamping sequence for Tonawanda engines. This car has a pad stamp of T0409,a block date code of B-26-70 and a trim tag date of 04B It appears.My question is when was the engine pad stamped with the T number as opposed to the cast date and could it be so close to the actual assembly date of the car? I thought there would be some spread there.

Bob;
You would think there would have to be some time span between these dates, but we have found otherwise with the '70 COPO Novas. The majority of cars with their original engines have blocks cast on 5/14-16, assembled between 5/19-24, and installed into cars built in 05D. I didn't think the blocks were cooled down enough to machine them, but Jeff Dotterer claims that this tight time frame is not unusual - especially in '70 with the strike. M

Hmmm...there's a white 1970 L-78 RS/SS at the Volo Museum. Same place that has the 9,000 mile original LS6 Chevelle 4-speed and the $78,000 L-78 Chevelle ragtop. I saw all three of these cars last Saturday.
They're asking $27,000 for the Camaro. Hope this link works... http://www.voloautomuseum.com/showrm_frame.html

Nice car on eBay. Too bad it's missing the original valve covers, ignition & smog equip. Those Flowmaster tailpipes look outta place also.
Someone buy it and I'll sell you all those missing parts. ;-) -------- Rick
