Default '68 L71 Corvette

Was recently able to purchase this '68 from another member here on the site. I've had my eyes on it since he picked the car up and was able to put something together a few weeks ago. Always nice dealing with someone who gets it.

L71
M21
G81/4.11
F41

According to the tank sticker the hardtop and P01 were added later on(oddly enough the date code on the hardtop glass is the same as the rest of the car), shows 22k miles i believe that's accurate. I've started to track down ownership history and was able to get ahold of an owners daughter who claims she has pictures of the car and her dad racing it back in the day. Ill be building an engine for the car in the coming months to hopefully go pure stock racing/street drive the car some.

Take note of the warranty letter from GM to the owner denying the warranty claim with 13k miles on the car. Drivetrain is NOM now but I'm trying to track what may have happened to it.

White-Allen is still in business and I've reached out to them to see if they still have anything, the original selling dealer i cant find any info on.

Marriot Chevrolet Continental, OH (original selling dealer)
White-Allen Dayton, OH (dealer who did warranty work in '71)

Wow, what a great car with great paperwork. I'm surprised that GM did not warranty the engine, what did they know that caused them to deny the claim?

Keep us posted on your progress with the car.

Currently in the car is a 289 block 454,291 heads and a ls6 intake, my friend bought it as a roller. I have the correct intake and carbs and as he rounded that stuff up before i purchased it. Ill be building a 427 for it.

Awesome car and story also great to see the L71 legible on the Tank Sheet.
You’re right, there’s little of Marriott Chevrolet’s existence online now.
Their Dealer Code 09-395 is not listed on the NCRS site but Member fsc66 likely has it.
Owner/Operator Paul Marriott passed in ‘02, lmk if you want his Obit and I’ll post or PM.
Did you see this ‘57 Matchbook on eBoy…https://www.ebay.com/itm/177474998815
Thanks for sharing, looking forward to your progress!
