original 1969 chambered exhaust parts...

Hi Gang, the most interesting parts I've found in a while are available here.

I have the four chambered pipe sections from an original early 1969 Z/28.

The story, as we're all familiar with, was that they got a lot of attention back in the day, but this car was not driven a lot apparently and the system lasted until the early 80s I was told - the system was removed after being patched together several times in the intervening years and was saved by the pack rat owner and shuffled around for decades and being stored here and there by several descendants...

What I was able to recover is shown in the attached photos; see several detail photos below.

It was on the car for several repaints but the four pieces are remarkably solid in my opinion and are certainly original.

The muffler tabs are cut, there's no hangers and three clamps present; I am unsure if those are assembly line - the regular pipe type sections rusted and apparently were not seen as valuable then, but he wanted to save the chambered pieces and up in the garage rafters they went.

I believe the chambered pieces are interchangeable between big block or small block Camaro systems - not sure if they're the same as Chevelle units.

They are solid but should be restored, maybe lightly cleaned - Evaporust maybe? - there's some undercoating too I believe on the tips as well as overspray.

I have not fluffed these at all as they should be preserved or conserved first, and as it often said, what you see is what you get / they are what / as they are.

If you want assembly line original pieces to graft onto some standard pipes to create an original sounding chambered system, this might be the way to go - as, I'm told nothing sounds like the original systems. I've heard the stainless systems sound different, even the aluminized ones.

I have a twenty year old repop system on my car and don't mind the chambered sounds at all myself.

There's no significant rust dust sound inside them when you shake or rattle them - these still have life left in them.

I am confident that they are assembly line units based on where they were found and that the RH / right hand / passenger side muffler / tailpipe assembly is welded rather than clamped, the driver's side / LH the tailpipe is clamped - the last 8 photos show that detail.

Not much more to be said about these other than they will not be easy or cheap to ship - I prefer local pick up of course, but will ship for materials and cost.

Would be great for a survivor chambered car... or to save for later.

how many times have I typed "chambered" here?...

Anyway, a not often found bunch of pieces here!
