Default Value question of my Father In-Law's 71 Cutlass Supreme Convertible

If anyone an assist, please peruse the several dozen photos I have posted here: https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthre...38#post1675538 1971 Olds Cutlass Supreme 350 convertible 96,000 miles. My Father In-Law owned it for at least 23 years after inheriting it from his late brother in 2002.

My Father In-Law and his wife are both going into senior care this week and I have been tasked with getting a value on and hopefully selling his pride and joy so the money can go to their care. He is a Viet Nam Veteran and has medical issues from Agent Orange in addition to memory loss at this point so there's not a lot I can ask him about the car but the complete paperwork file should be coming soon. (The wife is up there this week and just got me all the photos of the car.)

Any help is welcome. Here's a sample photo. Thank you all.

Steve

Second photo is from 2003 with my now 25 year old son sitting in my lap!

What a great car. It reminds me of our orange 1972 442.

----Most people don't even know how great these era (70-72) Cutlass's were as drivers. I can't think of any other normal newer than 72 GM car that is as nice an every day driver. Generally trouble free and just have a fantastic ride. If I had room I'd be on this beauty! as far as value, I'd guess close to $30,000 if everything is as good as the car appears. With that said, AC would really help the bottom line!....Bill S

Just about the best-looking wheels ever put on a car, too.

I guess that shows the car is pretty reliable since he lives a couple hours away from there. :-)

Sweet car. I think Bill is right on the money. Not only do these drive well, they just don't have many quirks; i.e. things that go wrong. Super easy to work on (change the plugs in about 3 minutes with a long speed handle and a swivel spark plug socket.

On top of that, it is a GREAT body style. My favorite Cutlass body of all time; regardless of whether it be a hard top or a convertible.

Great driver in a great color. Betting it looks even better in person out in the sun.

As for whether it is the born with engine, IMHO, that really doesn't make much difference in a car like this. It isn't going to get judged. It is going to be someone's cruiser. When I drive my 57 around, I don't give a rat's a$$ that the engine is not the original. It is just fun to drive.

Good luck whatever you decide to do with it. If it were in my family, I would have a REALLY hard time getting rid of it. I would keep it until someone offered ridiculous money for it. After all everything is for sale; just not necessarily ON sale.

Thanks Lynn,

The money is needed for my In-Law's care facility, otherwise we'd keep it. And we also have all my grandparents' cars, too...and no more room in the garage. If someone bought our low-mile 2011 Challenger R/T 6-speed maybe we could swing it.

I get it. Had to find ways to take care of my Mom for several years.
