Bob Jane bought two ex-Gibb ZL-1s from Rathmann Chev, Melbourne FL. Other was #52, Le Mans blue auto. Destroyed in the early '70s, engine is now in #33.

Pretty cool how the engine from one car ended up in the other. What’s the back story? Were they always together, or was this a long separated and then reunited story ? |

#33 was road raced, believe it or not, and that likely used up the original engine. #52 was drag-raced a bit, wrecked while street-driven. Jane sold #33 and it knocked around AUS for years. He or his family re-acquired it, restored it to its original racing livery with the other engine.
A few ZL-1s were VIN stamped on the pad.

The 427 engine was not allowed under a 1971 rule change so Bob put a 350 in the car and sold the 427 from #33. It was put in a 1970 Camaro that ran in a different class.
