Could a 69 SS Impala have a 335 hp 427 motor ? I have found conflicting info.
Some say only 390 and 425 hp available in SS and some say 335 hp was also available in SS. TIA |

Pretty certain 390 or 425 only. Believe the 390hp was a unique engine suffix for the SS427 only (rather than LC which was used on non-SS to designate 390hp).

Yes they had a 427-335 in 1969. Had a LE code. Tony, you had one for sale in 2018.

Correct, but I don’t believe 335hp was ever available in the SS427.

I'm going to vote no.
Traditionally, the 396 in passenger cars handled this horsepower range. That changed for the 1969 passenger car when the 2-bbl carb 265 hp engine was introduced as the only offering. I believe the 335 hp 427 was just covering the 325-350 hp no longer offered in the 396 passenger car. Information gathered from Colvins book and is just my opinion. Dave |
