Default '68 Camaro SS396, L89 Engine Code

Thoughts on the engine stamp? Broach marks are interesting. Certainly a laundry list of incorrect or repop parts on this one.

The car and the approach is certainly unique.

What about the close up picture of the dash VIN tag? Is it mounted properly?

Isn't that a replacement, repro dash ? Yeah, the pop rivets stuck out right away when I looked earlier, but not my place to pick it apart. Much more qualified people on here for that.
As found, before pics, would be informative as to it's "originality" level.

Probably is Mitch, as there would be no other reason to remove the vin tag (other than the obvious).

But, no way to know for certain just from that pic. 1968 has the sharp corners on the opening. 1969 came with rounded corners. The repops for both years are squared. If you want the 1969 to look correct, you have to weld a little spot in each corner, then round it off with a file.
No so for 1968.

The blue silicone on the rear end cover is a nice touch. I haven't seen that stuff in years. Anybody else notice that it looks like somebody surfaced the front of the head, and shaved the plug down? Why would this be? And the other pad shot looks to be an entirely different head.
