This is an original 1969 427/425HP engine. Based on the partial VIN stamped by the oil filter, this is an original COPO Camaro engine. The VIN of the car it came out of is 124379N680258 as shown. Unfortunately, the pad stamping was destroyed for unknown reasons, likely deceitful. I posted pictures of this block here on this site and members seemed to agree the pad stamp is likely T0828(or 2) MO. This discussion can be seen here:
https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?t=158853 This engine has not seen much use and just came out of decades of cool, dry storage where is was heavily greased and wrapped up for protection. I took the block, crank, and heads to the local machine ship and had them cleaned, magnafluxed, and inspected. All parts are free of cracks and repairs. Both the cylinders and crankshaft journals are still standard size! The machinist said the block can likely stay at standard bore at the high side of tolerences and the crank can stay standard/standard. This is quite find! This engine includes the following: Block: 3963512 Casting w/ 4 Bolt Main Caps Casting Date F 17 9 Pad Stamp: Damaged Partial VIN by oil filter: 19N680258 Standard bore with some light corrosion/staining in cylinders 2 & 4, will not catch fingernail. No sleeves or repairs Heads: Casting numbers 3919840 and 3964291 dated E 5 9 and F 12 9 respectively Appear to be all stock with no porting. Even the guides are stock and not cut for positive seals. These heads are original to this engine. Crankshaft: Forged steel "6223" crankshaft. Standard size on both rod and main journals. No balancing or alterations. This crank is original to this engine. Rods/Pistons: Original GM 3888304 TRW Forged pistons with dimple connecting rods with 3/8 bolts. Nice condition and will need cleaning. These were no original to this block but are the rods/pistons that would have originally come in this engine. Rods have some balancing on the caps. Timing cover: High Performance cover for 8 inch balancer with "AOR" timing tab. This cover is original to this engine. Harmonic balancer: High performance 8 inch balancer. Nice condition. Stamped "F 9 F". This balancer is original to this engine. Oil Pan: Nice original oil pan with "double baffle". Nice original condition. This oil pan is original to this engine. I also have the original bolts for the oil pan, timing cover, and harmonic balancer which are included. This is a very nice standard size 1969 427/425HP engine that retains almost all of its original components. Most of these original high performance 427 engines were run hard and put away wet. Finding an undamaged standard bore example is nearly unheard of. $6500 Jason |
