I've been looking around for a hood to use on my '69 Camaro when I put the tunnel ram on it. I want to cut a hole in the hood and let the carburetors show, so I don't want to use a scoop on top. I've been looking at some L88 hoods. I don't know how the stinger hood would look with the carbs sticking through it, but it's an option. Then there is always the cowl induction hood. What do you think? Does anybody have any pictures?

A lexan or otherwise clear plastic scoop in the style of a Grump Lump is the first thing that came to mind. You could use a stock style hood for this.
A quick Google image search came up with this, which I think just oozes cool... |

I would think a cowl induction hood would be the cheapest and easiest. Would seem a shame to cut and L88 or Stinger hood up. JMO..

I'm probably going to end up with a new hood, so the price is not going to be much difference. I want to use a fiberglass hood for weight, and I want it to bolt to the hood hinges. I found a used L88 hood for $100, but it's at least 4 hours from me. I was wondering where the tunnel ram would come through the L88 or stinger hood and if it would look right. There is nothing wrong with the cowl induction hood, I was just looking for other options to see what I liked best.

With the L88 the carbs will come through in the raised section of the hood and then you would have that L88 tuft ahead of it. I think with either the L88 or the stinger your going to come through in the higher portion of the hood. It will definitely look different to tunnel ram either of those style hoods but I don't think it will look bad on your car either way.

Thanks. I didn't want to get a L88 hood and then find out that I had to cut through the humps at the front of the scoop to make it fit. That wouldn't look right. I think the L88 would be my first choice, then the cowl induction. I was just wondering if others had any experience with this, and maybe some pictures.

I love the L88 hood probably more than any hood, but would definitely make sure it would look right before I cut one up. And I think the Stinger hood just wouldn't look right cut out. That leaves the best option, IMHO, as the cowl. I think it just looks the best if you need to cut it. Here's a better pic of mine.
