What brand engine paint is the closest to original for a 1969 350 ?
What is user friendly? Rattle can or brush? TIA

I've had good results with Dupli-Color Chevrolet Orange (DE1620).

Over the years the majority have liked the Seymour Chevy Orange for a realistic original color look. I used it on a BBC and it looks good!
And many specialist who restore have recommended it for use by us non-professionals spray bomb experts. LOL

I recall (yes I'm that old) all of the brand new Chevy engines in the '60's and early '70's all having a pretty faded orange color even when new.. and certainly none had the deep color and perfect coverage as shown here in these posts..
My own 302 block now is much too bright with better coverage than any engine I ever had or saw 'back in the day' mostly because I just got carried away too much when painting it, but overall any brand new car I ever bought in the '60's or later had what amounted to almost a flat orange color which quite quickly flattened even more upon usage (or faded off due to heat cycles) and overall amounted to pretty poor coverage all told. Just my own observations from years past! Randy.. |
