I realize this pad was sanded when the motor was rebuilt, and there are scratches from someone scraping the paint off, but does the font and spacing etc. of the letters and numbers appear correct for a 66 Impala 396 325 hp automatic car? Car has been finished for at least 12 years . Original stamp or restamp?

I say poor restamp. There are more than a few clues.

If you want an original engine, stay away.

I find it hard to believe that someone would go to the trouble to restamp a 396 325 Hp Turbo 400 block for a 66 Impala 12 or more years ago. I need to slide under and see if the trans. is VIN stamped as well.

Got any more info on the car? Can you post a cowl tag photo? I agree with the others about the pad.

Timg has been tracing pad stamps since before digital cameras. If he says stay away I believe him.
