any thoughts on what a 64 Impala SS convert numbers matching 409 425 HP dual quad 4 speed fresh frame of restoration might bring in todays market. red red interior white top. i cant seem to find any that have sold recently that were real deal numbers matching cars. anybody have any idea how many dual quad 425 HP converts were built in 64 it also has the dealer installed removable hard top with complete owner history from new. any opinions would be appreciated.

There was an aftermarket company named Carson that made removable hardtops for '62-64 convertibles. They were never a Chevrolet accessory but a dealer could put anything the customer wanted on a new car to make a sale.
As far as value, I could only offer a very wide range depending on the quality and correctness of the restoration and if there's a legitimate original driveline. I'd prefer not to guess without seeing the car/documents. As for production numbers, of the 8,684 409s installed in '64 full size Chevys, the 425hp version was installed in 1,986 of them for US sales and another 11 for export. There are no numbers available with a breakdown by model, body style or bundled with any other options. Verne |

Hey Verne, this sounds like the car that was in the old Late Great Chevy Club Magazine back in the 1985-87 time frame. I actually had TWO complete sets in their binders but lost them in my recent house fire. I do remember that it was a Red '64 Impala Convertible with the 409/425 HP engine and a strange white-colored removeable hardtop. Maybe you can check your set in the time frame I mentioned.

He also sent a 5 page letter giving the history of car. Anyone who looks through these docs will have no doubt the car is the real deal. There is even a letter from chevrolet sales manager thanking him for purchasing a new chevrolet. i have the sales brochure for the removable hard top. On the cover it says Riviera removable hard top. Made in Iowa. I can scan the cover of it. I don't know how to post pics maybe a fellow member can help me out. My main reason for asking for help on production numbers is i haven't seen a numbers matching on of these sell so I was thinking the production must have been low. If anybody has the article from late great chevy go ahead and post it it's an interesting read.
