Default CORRECT DAY 2 PARTS ???

I am building what I would call a early 70's built 1969 day2 Street/strip car. That title long enough??

Anyway, I am too young to know exactly what were some correct parts. I have looked in mags but don't have any yet that old. Mine only go back to late 70's 80's.

What would correct BBC valve covers that were available? Air cleaners? Tach drive distributors were in correct??

Just have a few touches to be kind of correct. Any help appreciated.

Thanks

MT and Cal Custom valve covers would be good. Fly eye air cleaner and also Cal Custom made ac's for the BB chevy. why a mechanical tach? Go with a Sun or even a vintage Dixco.

I know what day 2 parts are but i am trying to get year specific. I want the car to look as if it was built in 69-say 1973. A lot of the parts are cool but might be early or too late.

I am going to try the M/T'S but not sure they will clear my power brakes.

Tach drive dist?? Looks cool and I have one but not the tach.

Too early for MOROSO labeled products?

Thanks guys I guess that I am trying to be accurate just as you would be with a restoration.

Thanks

I think you'll be fine using Moroso, but try and get an early catalog or magazine to get a feel for what they were offering back then.

I took this fomr their web site:

"WELCOME to the 2010 Moroso and Competition Engineering Performance Products Guide. Contained in this Guide are actually two complete catalogs in one! Thank you for referring to our Guide for all of your high performance needs.

2009 was a record-setting year for Moroso. It was our best year in new product sales in our forty-one-year history! Performance is our business, and even in this slow economy that’s proof-positive we’re building relevant products that our customers need. Products to make you faster, more consistent and take you to the winner’s circle!"

My math says 2010-41 = 1969 so seems right your project. Now I think Jones cable tach's may have been the early brand for the later Moroso brand. Anyone care to comment? That 41 year history may have begun with a different name.

The Period correct thing is cool, but where do you draw the line on a car with no historical provinance and built today just for fun?

The old magazines, such as Super Stock and Drag Illustrated are a good source of such info as well, not to mention fun reading.

SS&DI was the best. They road tested a ZL1 Camaro, a COPO Camaro, and a COPO/Yenko Chevelle over the summer of 1969. This was while most of the other magazines didn't even know that they existed. All the old ads are excellent.

Believe Keith said it right in which mags to ponder upon.
Exactly what are you looking for in terms of engine parts, and or, interior items and what car R U building or have done.
I might possibly be able to aid as I have some of the mags Keith referred to. Just might have some 'ole school' stuff also. BBC / SBC / car type???

Actually Jones made the tachs for Moroso and Stahl.

How about some 15"X 4" Anson spints up front, and some 15"X 10" Supior aluminum slots with some Mickey Thompson Indy profile L-60's out back, thats day II all the way...
I might know where some are... Crash
