I am restoring a set of Pontiac rally wheels and am having a difficult time matching the charcoal color in the five inserts. The PPG Duracryl Lacquer part number is DDL-32947, however, I can't find any paint supply places that can mix it anymore. It is an odd color since it has a slight hint of blue to it. Here is the mixing formula:
Mixing formula: Color Units (cumulative) 384 Yellow 20 311 White 44 321 Blue 74 358 Black 224 349 Poly 694 DX 265 Flat 984 First, I was wondering if anyone knows if this is the same PPG number used on the Chevy SS wheels for 1970-72 (or there abouts). Second, if it is also the chevy color, has anyone found a close match to it off-the-shelf? I see that there is a chevy charcoal grey spray paint available from the vendors like D&R which is a Seymour product. Has anyone tried that? |

I have a quart of PPG Duracryl DDL. This is Acrylic Lacquer with the following on the label:
3296 (Prime) OEM Code: WOE4074 Dark Gray This paint has a texture to it when it dries. I used it on my 72 El Camino SS and I was satisfied with the result. I did a lot of research and came up with this product. I can send you a picture of them if you like. Dan |

Call D&R and ask for steve (the owner). He will tell you what the correct color is and send it to you. I don't think it's called charcoal grey.
