Default 1972 Camaro WIW?

Got a line on a 72 Camaro, its supposed to be an RS/SS 4-speed. Not sure on any other options or which plant it was built in. Will the cowl tag list all the options the car has? Can the build sheet be found under the back seat? Are these desirable and what are they going for these days?

Thanks for any info!!

Nick

I'm no expert, but this is my 2 cents(off the top of my head). 72 was a strike year for the Camaro plant I believe. I dont know production numbers, but there were less Z's made that year than the other 2nd Gen cars. I believe the cowl tag may show the SS option as an engine code...like LS3..of it is a Big-block car. I believe that was the last year of the big-blocks in the Camaro. Also they were hit hard with the smog controls by then. The small block cars were well under 300 HP...
As far as value?? It depends on condition and originality/color, options, etc. But I believe they are stilll a very good investment at the prices they are if not just because the 1st Gen cars are alot more expensive. I'd say an excellent original sm. block 72 RS-SS car could be had for 20k. Maybe I am out of touch...I am sure there are more experts here that can chime in....but I hope that helps....max

Did they even make an RS/SS Camaro in 72? From what I haven't seen any production specific options call it an RS/SS. I did read that the VIN# will specify Z28 or not and engine size as well.

Z27 on cowl tag is SS, LS3 or L78 0n tag is big block. Also check if cowl tag is riveted or phillips screwed.

I thought this part applied to the 1970 model year cars only?.
