Default Smokey Yunick NOS 67 Z-28 MO 302

Does anyone know about the motors that Smokey sold at his auction? I heard that he freshly rebuilt all the motors just before the auction.

This motor is going in my 67 Z-28 and was purchased at Smokey's auction. I have the smokey documentation and list of parts also from the auction.

I'd appreciate any suggestions what I should check prior to firing the motor up. Should I just rebuild the whole motor?
Do any of the oils/and/or parts go bad just sitting?

I am going to disassemble it somewhat and take a look inside. Thought you guys may be interested. "As touched by one of the greatest Chevrolet mechanics/minds of all times".

This is the first time taken apart since purchased at his auction.

thanks, max

The headers did not come with the motor...I just thought they were cool for the pic. I've had the headers for years and am going to use them as the car is going to be a '69 era' Trans Am racer/driver clone.

The original manifold is dated and pictured here

At this point, I'm not sue what more to do. Should I tear the motor apart and check every little thing? Maybe just a quick check and trust Smokeys expertise?? Suggestions please!!

Thanks, max
