Yenko Driven Race Car for sale

Two friends and I have a 1968 Corvette race car that was raced by Don Yenko in the 1979/1980 time period. The car was converted to a race car in 1970 in New York City and raced throughout the eastern US in the 70s.

In 1978, Kim Mason, a Manager for Yenko Chevrolet, bought the car and he and Don Yenko raced it throughout 1979 and 1980, including at the 1980 24 hours of Daytona – car number 16. (Results of the race can be found on the Internet by searching on International Motorsports Association and going to the classicscar link for the old results – not to the current IMSA web site.) A picture of the car with Yenko driving at Mid-Ohio is in the December/January, 1981 issue of Corvette News. It has a log book dating to 1972.

The car is listed on Ebay, item # 180303893890 with more info in the Ebay write-up. Following the guidelines in the post on ads, my contact info is listed below. The starting price on the Ebay ad is $25,000 and we will sell it for $50,000 and close the Ebay listing. I actually have three cars that ran the 1980 24 hour race and thought I may have pictures of the Yenko vette but unfortunatley I do not .

For those interested this car would qualify for the FIA/IMSA class/race group at the Monterey Historics with all the Porsche RSRs , 934s, 935s , Ferrari BB's , Greenwood Vette's , etc. The Corvette's are very popular . Very reasonably priced historic car that you can go racing with at all the swanky events . Ooops , did the price just go up

Thanks ChevyThunder! If you do come across any pictures of our Corvette in the 1980 24 hour race, we would really like to see them. The car does have a log book and will qualify for all of the vintage race groups with which I am familiar.

And no, the price did not go up!

I know but there are plenty of guys driving 6/10ths in that gig... even with the problems with an unsorted car I made short work of the Greenwood and moved through the field

the "Greenwood", another uncompetitive car in that class...maybe those guys are driving around at 6/10 because they were informed (at the drivers meeting) who would finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd...

Yep.. a little of that going on though it has now become harder for them to do that as more competative cars with good drivers are showing up. That is why I wish the old HSR was still around. We used to have fun . In 2000 or 2001 we were running faster times in 15 year old GTP cars than the Ferrari 333SP's and other Protos were at Daytona during the 24 hour weekend.Plus to go through all of that at Monterey and only get 60 min. of track time for the whole weekend doesn't make sense to me anymore.
