-----Colin,,,Do you presently have a Griffith, maybe that gold one in the article??? I see you are at least interested in them. I had a 65 200 with the optional 350hp 289 dual quad engine. It was absolutely the fastest street car I ever owned. 1890 lbs. and 350 horsies. Do the math......Bill S

Hi Bill,
Yes, indeed I do have a Griff. It is a 200 with the HiPo 289, single 4bbl (Autolite 4100 C3OF as I recall, the 600 cfm one) Bought it from the original owner, who bought it when he was 19 with the money he earned from racing Porsches on the east coast for Max Hoffman. I have his notes from when he compared it to a 289 Cobra at the time. The deciding factor was the Cobra weighed 2200 lbs with 271 hp and the Griff was 1500 lbs (published in literature) soaking wet and had the same HP and...was $300 less! He drove it for about 18 months and then parked it becase he said if he kept driving it he "would be dead" becuase he didn't trust that his abilities were high enough to control the Griff. Mind you, this was a kid who won a lot of races for Hoffmann, and driving for Max was the US equivalent of getting a spot on Enzo Ferraris team almost ![]() The little bugger is out getting the headliner replaced this week, I'll snap you some pictures soon. Cool little car, 10k miles from new, original Farina 8k horizontal tach just like a Cobra. Have any pics of yours? More importantly, have any pictures of you squeezed into it? That had to be a damn funny sight, like the Shriners rolling into town ![]() Colin |

That's a great 435 roadster Colin and red to boot! I believe only four '67 big blocks of any horsepower have ever received the Bloomington Benchmark award. A no brainer! Chris

Hey Chris,
Well, I happen to know just where the other 435 Benchmark car is sitting... ![]() I agree, the red car at $275k is a no brainer. It sold in 2005 for over $400k as we all know. I don't think there is another Benchmark '67 435 available at any price, if there is even a 3rd one? Colin |
