Yes. The car is 100% an SYC. The current owner was getting married the week he put the car up on Facebook and hadn't had a chance to dig into it. This confirms it had stripes and in my opinion, puts to rest any claims that it's not the car in the photo.

I'm not saying that it is not the car in the picture @ Brearger Chevrolet, but what makes you 100% sure of it, so I can follow. Obviously since you have been chasing the car and talking to the original owner family, you have more info than what is posted here.

Such a Kool find!

Fair question, Stefano. It's one I've been working on ironing down the hard data on. So far my research is pointing towards a Funny Car meet at Great Lakes Dragway. The Viking Camaro was out of Illinois and these cars would be staged at local dealerships to drum up business. The best educated guess is the Camaro was either dealer traded or lent to Braeger for marketing purposes. I've got a note in with the curator of the Dale Chev documents owner. If the car was traded to Braeger it should be in the paperwork. The last we spoke he had 30 boxes of invoices from Dale and he wasn't too keen on searching through them for this one car.

Amazing! Who would have thought 53 years ago that a car like this would be discovered and cause so much excitement. How did a car like this stay underground for so long? I thought all the Yenko VIN's were title searched and scooped up by those in the know years ago? Can't wait to see what else comes out of the woodwork over the next 5-10 years as long term owners pass them on to friends and family when they're ready.

There were a couple of us actively looking for this car. I've talked with the family of the original owner and had info on where it was sold new (Dale). I also found someone who has all of Dale's archive. They wanted insane money for the paperwork so I didn't pursue it further.

Either way, the car was unregistered for longer than Wisconsin keeps records so it would have been impossible to find. The only way to find it would have been to follow the breadcrumbs from new.

That's likely a half million dollar car when done. Would have to be some pretty insane money not to go after it. On the flip side it is unfortunate that so many people hold hostage for things like this. Really gives the hobby a black eye.

That's great. Maybe you can help the guy talk to original owner's family?
