"I look forward to the day when every single piece on the car will have it's own thread here.!" (We're rapidly approaching that goal! ![]() ![]() ![]() "My air cleaner wing nut is turned is 37 degrees clockwise from the centerline of the car. I think it's original, but I'm not positive. Does anyone know for sure what the correct alignment should be?" I would venture a guess that the 37° deviation (plus or minus 3°) is correct. The question is; which side of the Mississippi River the car was built. Cars built West of the Big Muddy seem to have the wing nut Counterclockwise while the Eastern cars were Clockwise. Isn't that what your research indicates Rick? ![]() ![]() BTW, my 05D Arlington car: no red mark!_____________________________________________ ____ Help me Lord: I need a life!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() [/ QUOTE ] ![]() ![]()

Just an observation gentlemen. My 1970 Camaro does not have the red makring. My 1969 Z28 does have the marking. I think it unique to Hi-Po cars.

I had two steering columns I personally pulled out of a 1971 Pontiac Grand prix, and a 1971 Buick Skylark.
These both had Red dabbed Ignition switches and still retained their factory cast flashing covering the release button. Thus they were never been replaced. |

Quick! Somebody analyze the paint to get the paint code and come up with a $99 dollar kit so that I can make mine look original!

[/ QUOTE ] Mossport, The above both sound like relatively low-performance cars to me... Rick, was there anything special about the pontiac and buick these switches were in, or was it a standard model GP and 'lark? ![]() I personally had a 69 malibu 350 3 speed a few years ago that also had the red paint, i don't know for certain if it had ever been re-touched up or not, but it was there and looked original to me. |
