thanks chris. I was born and raised in astoria, so that was a nice excerpt you picked. That was still one of the places to go in the mid 80's. It was fun sometimes trying to make the turn at the end to go onto the Grand Central Parkway or Astoria blvd. thanks again

Thanks Glenn, it is easy to see here that the mods to the VW's were so cheap and easily doubled HP. Headers, cam, Webers, dual point distributors (high Tech!) and you got AIR!
Ralph Nader pissed on those Wheaties also.

I believe that VW ran in the mid 10's before retirement. GTO DON has the tow vehicle that goes with the Thunderbug.
