Default Re: Heater Delete Plate

As for the delete plate dies we have, they are 100% exact with plasma cutting on the ends to match the factory finish. You can't tell these from original GM! I dont sell these though and are only used on local west coast circuit cars in SS/A on through. Best interest in these were to reduce weight by removing the heater core assembly-etc. I bought a complete set back in the late 80's and tooled the dies from original equipment. We considered an Aluminum copy of the dash plate(69) and then anodize it Black but there wasnt enough call to do that. I do not intend on misleading these at all and are not on any street cars or resto's. (these are not for sale by the way...). I was just wondering what the Board here would respond on this; I had tossed it around in my head for a while whether I should communicate this at all. I hope no one is angered over any of this...

Im my opinon you did good. Not trying to fake something is admriable and I wish more guys were like that. There are just too many con artists and fast buck counterfeters out there for my taste.

I see nothing wrong with making them and selling some just as long as you add a very distintive marking or a reinforcing circle to the part that can't be filed off so that it could never be converted to look like a original. I am sure that there is a market for some of those for guys that are racing and you might recover some of your cost to make the dies in the first place.

I have to agree with you Larry on that, there is always someone out there that is a con artist. I would have liked to have an original set for my race car, but I cant see spending that money on covers that nobody is going to see. I can use that money somewhere else like horsepower.
