My 69 Camaro "COPO" recreation (T-400) has a B7M Hammer shifter (nice but obviously new). I'm thinking of putting column auto back in car rather than the new HURST Dual Gate !!!
Your opinions please??????

The auto stick was used in deuces. They were shipped as column auto. The Hurst shifter was dealer installed at Yenko. I have the original one in my car. Starts in neutral. No back up lights. Earl [/ QUOTE ] How in the world could they get "no back up lights" passed state inspection? Especially as a newly shipped vehicle. Steve

Hurst "Dual Gate" or "His and Hers" were an optional upgrade over a straight stick console shifter with the lockout button on the top on GTO's. 442's came with a column shifter, and the Hurst was only an optional upgrade like the GTO. Not sure if you could order it for a Tempest or Cutlass with a center console. Never available in Buick or Chevy cars. Yenko cars were dealer installed, converted from column shift, without the center console.
Chuck, JMO, but I would go with the column shifter. It just adds to the sleeper look of the car, and you can sneak it into 1 from D very discreatly. ![]()
